In January 1973, in an old victorian house on Chestnut Street in Bloomington, Illinois, U.S.A. a program known as Project Lighthouse was begun. From that simple beginning, a visionary group of diverse and creative staff helped mold Lighthouse into what is now a highly regarded, sophisticated organization known as Chestnut Health Systems. Chestnut Health Systems is a private, not-for-profit 501 C-3 charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Our professional and experienced staff is committed to providing high quality care and services to the communities we serve. From drug and alcohol addiction in-patient facilities, to work-life and employee assistance programs, to a research institute, Chestnut continuously works to achieve its mission to make a difference and improve quality of life through excellence in service.
